Proposed Schedule and Budget

 

Proposed Schedule for Medical Team November 3 to 15, 2004

  1. Departure from LAX on Wednesday 11/3 at 11PM for the Medical Mission group and arrival in Hanoi on 11/5. Half day sightseeing and check in at Daewoo Hotel (a five stars hotel)
  2. Departure Saturday 11/6 for Lang Son province, arrival by noon, check in at hotels in Lang Son city, meeting for Surgical Team & Primary Care Team, orientation and training for volunteers. 
  3. On Sunday 11/7, surgical clinic at Lang Son General Hospital and set up in the operating rooms.
  4. Monday 11/8 through Friday 11/12 work at Lang Son Hospital & rural schools and commune health centers, mandatory final reception on last evening. Return to Hanoi late night and check in at Daewoo hotel.
  5. Optional Saturday 11/13 departure for Ha Long Bay (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) with overnight on Cat Ba Island, returning in the evening 11/14.

Return flight to USA on 11/15 in AM.

Proposed Budget for Medical Team

We will not be able to reimburse any portions of the expense if you are not able to participate in the entire mission or any optional event you signed up for. This money will be put towards the benefit of the children of Viet Nam. Thank you for your continuing support and understanding.

Proposed Schedule for Training Team October 29 through November 14, 2004

A. TENTATIVE ITINERARY

  • October 29: Departure LAX @ 11PM (or from other US sites) arrival Ho Chi Minh city 10/31 midday
  • Nov 1-3: Training at the University of Medicine & Pharmacy, HCM city (Saigon)
  • November 4: Optional day visit to the Mekong delta to discover rural life in the estuary of South Vietnam 
  • Nov 5: Flight to Hanoi, meet the Medical Mission team at the airport, check in Daewoo Hotel. Hanoi City Tour.
  • Nov 6-7: Optional trip to Ha Long Bay with overnight at Cat Ba Island
  • Nov 8-12: Training at Hanoi hospitals & Thanh Hoa General Hospital 
  • Nov 13: Optional visit to cultural sites & shopping
  • Nov 14: Departure Hanoi for the US 


B. TENTATIVE PROGRAM SAIGON
Concurrent sessions: 

  • ACLS & ATLS-3days “train the trainers”
    • Mental health-evaluation & behavioral management-3 days
    • Neonatology: Perinatal management (issues in delivery room, effective neonatal resuscitation, evaluation and follow-up)
    • Setup & organization of a neonatal resuscitation room
      Ventilator management
    • Visits with counterparts for Pediatric & Adult medical specialists. 


C. TENTATIVE PROGRAM HANOI-THANH HOA

  • Thanh Hoa 
    ATLS 3 days with practice Workshops
    Audience: 27 physicians from district hospitals + 3 from provincial hospital
    Set up for Monitoring project: templates and followup system Communes-District-Province
    Equipment donation: Teaching equipment (Manikins, defibrillator, EKG, Pulse oximeter, monitor, transport equipment)
    Notebook computer & LCD projector
    Resident for extended stay #2-3 weeks to follow-up after the course 
  • Ha Noi
    Saint Paul Hospital: Neonatology 1-day (Resuscitation, jaundice, ventilation)
    Pediatric Emergency (Respiratory emergency, Neurologic emergency, issues in critical care discussion)
    National Hospital of Pediatrics: Pediatric Allergy & Respiratory care
    Infectious Diseases topics
    ACLS/ATLS-3 days
    Specialists work with Vietnam counterparts (i.e. Oncology team at National Cancer Institute -Oncologist, Radiologist, Pathologist)


D. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

  • ACLS & ATLS Instructors, Emergency Specialists
  • Neonatologists & Pediatric Critical Care Specialists
  • Pediatric Allergist, Pulmonologist, GI, Hematologist, Pediatric Surgeons
  • Infectious Disease Specialist
  • Oncologist , Radiologist, Pathologist, Oncology-Surgeons
